Herrenknecht AG Wins “Glocal Enterprise Award 2011“
Award presented on the occasion of the traditional WestLB Corporate Day
Baden-Württemberg-based company Herrenknecht AG has won WestLB´s “Glocal Enterprise Award 2011“. Derived from global and local, the term “Glocal” is intended to convey the prizewinner´s close links with its home market and simultaneous global market orientation. In the view of the three-member jury headed by Professor Dr. Dr. Franz Josef Radermacher, both aspects apply to Herrenknecht. The company plans to double the € 15,000 prize money and donate the total amount to “Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft” for the flood victims in Pakistan.
This year´s award was presented to Herrenknecht on the occasion of WestLB´s traditional Corporate Day in Düsseldorf, which attracted roughly 300 participants. “Many medium-sized companies have operated successfully for years on a worldwide scale. Herrenknecht AG is an outstanding example. These pearls of the German economy do not always attract the public attention they deserve in terms of their performance and achievements. With this award we are demonstrating our close links with medium-sized companies, which are a key customer group of the Bank,” said Werner Taiber, member of WestLB´s Managing Board.
Herrenknecht AG, with headquarters in Schwanau in Baden-Württemberg, is the world leading manufacturer of tunnelling technology. Founded in 1977, the family owned company today has 26 subsidiaries and employs approximately 3,500 people. The company´s shares are held by members of the founding family.
About the WestLB Corporate Day:
WestLB AG has organised the “Corporate Day” in Düsseldorf for large and medium-sized companies since 2004. In presentations, a high-calibre panel discussion and a total of six workshops, companies can find out more on current topics from the financing, legal and tax fields.
The WestLB Corporate Day offers an exclusive forum for companies to exchange views and information. From 65 participants in 2004, it has meanwhile increased to roughly 300 participants and is one of the major events of its kind in Germany.
