Michael Breuer Appointed New Chairman of WestLB AG Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board of WestLB AG has unanimously elected Michael Breuer, President of the Savings Banks and Giro Association of the Rhineland (RSGV), as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The appointment is effective immediately. He succeeds Dr. Rolf Gerlach, who resigned from office at his own request on December 31, 2007.
Michael Breuer, who is 42, is a graduate economist. He was employed by KPMG, the auditing firm, from 1993 to 2004 and worked as an independent auditor and tax adviser from 2004 to 2005.
Between 1995 and 2007 Michael Breuer was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In May 2005 he was appointed Minister of Federal and European Affairs. Following his election as President of the Savings Banks and Giro Association of the Rhineland, he resigned from ministerial office in October 2007. Michael Breuer has been President of the Savings Banks and Giro Association of the Rhineland since January 1, 2008.
