Harald Christ New Head of BU Private Banking at WestLB AG
Appointment underlines the future strategic importance of the Private Banking business
Harald Christ (35) has been appointed to the previously vacant position of Head of BU Private Banking at WestLB. The appointment is effective immediately. He assumes this position in addition to his function as executive manager of Weberbank Actiengesellschaft in Berlin, which he has held since October 1, 2007. As business unit head and member of the divisional board, Harald Christ will coordinate WestLB´s central product development in private banking for the savings banks in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg as well as the private banking activities of WestLB International S.A., Luxembourg, and Weberbank Actiengesellschaft, Berlin.
Dr. Norbert Emmerich, who is responsible for BU Private Banking on the WestLB Managing Board, said: “Harald Christ has long-standing experience in the investment field. His appointment to this key position underlines the strategic importance which WestLB attaches to the private banking business.”
Harald Christ added: “My main objective now is to make even better use of the specific strengths of our private banking teams for the benefit of our clients and to develop and expand our private banking franchise. Our international expertise and growing presence will enable us to meet the demands of our sophisticated clientele.”
Prior to joining WestLB, Harald Christ was the CEO of HCI AG, the Hamburg-based issuing house which went public in 2005. Before that he held management positions, also in Private Banking, with Deutsche Bank AG.
