WestLB Issues Outperformance Certificates on the Nikkei 225

WestLB AG is issuing outperformance certificates on the Nikkei 225 which enable the investor to profit from the performance of the Japanese share index and additionally receive a bonus.

On the maturity date, the investor participates 100% in the performance of an underlying index, similar to an index certificate. In addition, the certificate pays a bonus if the Nikkei 225 at no time during the observation period trades at or below a previously determined price threshold. If the index at no time trades at or below the price threshold of 65% and at the determination date trades below the bonus level of 140%, the certificate will be repaid at 140% of its nominal amount. In all other cases the certificate will be repaid according to the closing level of the Nikkei 225 at the determination date.

WestLB AG is issuing up to 1 million outperformance certificates on the Nikkei 225. The observation period runs from (and including) October 7, 2003 to (and including) October 6, 2009. Maturity date is October 9, 2009. The bonus level is 140% and the price threshold 65% of the initial reference value. The initial reference value is 10,740.14 index points. Closing is October 10, 2003. The certificates will be listed on the Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart (EUWAX) Stock Exchanges ("Freiverkehr").
